Cardan Fire was set up in 2020 upon my retirement from the fire service and we provide fire risk assessment, fire training, health and safety and fire legal services.

I started working for Dorset Fire Brigade in 1989 and retired from the newer combined authority, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service in 2020. During that time, I worked operationally at fire stations in Christchurch and Bournemouth and in fire safety where I achieved the role of Deputy Head of Fire Safety for Dorset Fire & Rescue Service. I was one of the few officers who had the level of authority to prohibit dangerous premises.

I was also a qualified fire investigation officer – so I understand fire having spent my career preventing it and investigating its behaviour.

I also specialised in event fire safety. Being a statutory member of Safety Advisory Groups, I liaised and worked closely with events, councils and other emergency services.
